Entry Description:
My favorite hobby is drawing, because it brings out my imagination and feelings.
Entry 2
Entry Description:
Since the category is about new hobbies we learned, I chose to draw a guitar. The first time I really started to play was in July and I’ve gotten pretty good since then. I also started playing in a band recently with my brother and two other people. This drawing combines old hobbies and new hobbies. The galaxy texture that I drew symbolizes the passion I used to have for space, and everything else represents my new passion for music.
Entry 3
Entry Description:
The picture is not only representing my new found skill/hobby (drawing) but other things I also like to do. For example in the lower right and left corners of the page there is a cookie, a book, goggles, and a pick axe. The cookie represents that I like to eat, the book shows I like to write, the goggles represent the fact I am on the swim team, and the pick axe reveals that I enjoy the game called Minecraft. I hope you like the drawing.

I started gardening as a hobby during quarantine. One of my birthday gifts was a set of dog-shaped plant pots. I was excited to use them, so my mom and I went to Lowes later that week to chose three succulents. I chose the succulents I thought were colorful and unique. The plants I picked were called “Aquamarine” and “Murasaki”. The third one I chose was called “Bear’s Paws” because the plant’s appendages are claw-shaped and feel fuzzy.

The mountains and snow have been a big part of my life growing up and this pandemic has made me appreciate it even more, especially the ability to still go and be outdoors and just have fun snowboarding all day.

In Fall of 2020 I took an art class in 9th grade at Los Alamitos High School. I wanted to try a new hobby and I always liked art. I was inspired by my cats to make this piece , "Abstract Cats".
Entry 11
Entry Description:
In this drawing, I was inspired to draw a character from the anime Naruto. However this character is not from the show. I created this character from taking small details from other characters from the show and fusing it into one. I have been binging a lot more anime during quarantine than I usually do. As a result, I drew more often as well.

Entry Description:
With my extra time in 2020, I would start my day by preparing a healthy breakfast as I enjoyed the quiet morning. One dish that liked to prepare was avocado toast. With each piece of toast and half of an avocado, I would experiment with different preparation methods and different seasoning and flavoring combinations—some days a squirt of tangy lemon, some days a hint of honey, and other days a pinch of pepper. Each morning brought a different twist to the classic dish, but nonetheless, the star of the show was the avocado.

During the pandemic I took some time to do some research into my favorite animal. The sloth is an adorable creature that is sadly endangered in almost all of its natural habitats. I learned about the sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica and created this painting in the traditional Costa Rican style to showcase my newfound appreciation for sloths and ways we can help save them.

When the first wave of the pandemic and ensuing quarantines hit, I used the time to learn how to sew. My grandma is an expert seamstress and has tried many times to teach me how to sew with a machine, but my younger self didn't seem quite cut out for it. I took sewing lessons at the Sewing Lab in Los Alamitos during middle school but unfortunately had not used those skills since that time. I decided to get back into it! I jumped in head-first and made a historically accurate 1750's gown. It took weeks of work and I learned a lot about myself. This time that I spent sewing inspired me to make this piece featuring a vintage pattern that I have as well as a model of the dress.

I’ve committed myself to improving things about myself that make me uncomfy. My voice has been a big part of that so during the summer I started taking lessons and I’ve been so proud of my progress. Lady Gaga is my vocal inspiration. Just listening to her songs makes me want to keep pushing.
