Entry Description:

I love my community so much, it reminds me of my favorite national park in Utah named Arches. My community is open and free to roam with parks, sidewalks, trees and there are many animals like rabbits, squirrels, and birds to watch. I like to take long walks to explore around my neighborhood and they remind me of the long hike I took with my dad at Arches.

Entry Description:

This is my home, the front yard of our house. Because of Covid-19 last year, Daddy said we can’t play in the playground of the park nearby, so we play ball and with toys in our front yard. Black birds always rest on the roof, but sometimes they poop on the car window. A big owl jumps and flies and another little owl just stays and looks at me. I love this place.

Community Park

This drawing depicts me and one of my friends at the duck pond in El Dorado Park feeding birds. I drew this because I have been going there a lot lately. It's wonderfully peaceful and almost nostalgic for me; I lived in the Netherlands before where I also fed birds a lot. There is a lot of nature, something you don’t find often in Southern California. This park in the drawing reminds me of the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, there were grass fields with flowers and herds of animals, forests with chirping birds, and clear skies with white fluffy clouds. It was possible to experience every bit of nature: snowy days, sunny days, and rainy days too! It was also very clean and eco friendly with trams, buses, trains, and barely any cars. El Dorado Park is the closest thing my Southern California community can get to the nature filled Netherlands. In this piece of art, I am hoping to capture a glimpse of what little nature that can be found here.

Community means happiness, love, and fun! I like to go on walks with my family, we talk about happy things that happened to us, and we get to say hi to our neighbors, we also get to see all of the beautiful things around us. We learn to take things that we have for granted and we see the beauty in the community around us.

Entry Description:

My neighbor is a great family friend. My neighbor is a great baker and I have enjoyed making sweets together with her. During Covid-19 we couldn't hang out together physically, but we got to exchanged homemade treats and foods. I learned how to bake cookies and muffins from scratch and exchanged them with my neighbor for her brownies, fudge and other treats. It has been a great way to stay connected while practicing social distance.
