Students were asked to illustrate based on the following prompt:
“What comes to mind when you think of your “Happy Place?” Is it a corner of your house where you love to read? Is it your favorite theme park you cannot wait to re-visit? Is it your Grandma’s house? Show us!”

Entry Description:
This is a watercolor painting, showing the peace and tranquility of the mountains. It almost feels like a dream when I am there.

This picture is on a beach. It makes me happy because I like spending time and traveling with the family.

Entry Description:
I am doing Disneyland for my happy place because before COVID-19 started we went to Disneyland all the time, so it was basically my home away from home.

Though simple things, being with a book and my dogs, can create my happy place anywhere, if feels infinite as the sky to be with the people and things I love most.

Entry Description:
The drawing I have done is of me standing on top of a rock formation in Joshua Tree National Park. I have entered this drawing as a happy place because when I am bouldering in Joshua Tree I am always so happy, because when you are on top of a great mountain of rocks you feel free and you feel like you have accomplished something amazing! Another reason I drew Joshua Tree is because I wanted to show how beautiful it is there. Me and my family go to Joshua Tree a few times a year and every time we go bouldering and hiking there, it never gets old. I hope you like this drawing and consider it to be a winner. Even if I don’t win, it is still a huge privilege to be in this contest with other artists because it is my dream to be an artist someday. Thank you.

I like to watch a sunset. I get lost in the colors. I painted the colors that first came to my mind.

Entry Description:
The feeling of skiing down the white powdered slopes is like no other. The breeze of the fresh cold air, the sound of the skies gliding smoothly upon the snow, and the snow-white trees. I love it all. This is my happy place.
